A partner portal can give a distributor or customer a consistent place to find reviewed documents and track an enquiry. It needs a clear reason to exist beyond moving public pages behind a password.
Define the partner relationship
We identify the roles, the records each role can access and the events that change access. Scope might include document libraries, enquiry history and staff administration. A partner must not gain access to another organisation's records by changing a URL or following an old bookmark.
Account invitation, recovery and removal are operational tasks with named owners. Documents need a revision policy and appropriate permission checks on downloads as well as the page that lists them. A first release can focus on one partner group and a limited information set.
Review the boundary
Acceptance uses separate fictional organisations and direct links. Check an inactive account, an expired invitation and a replaced document. Staff should be able to explain both what a partner can find and what remains outside the portal.
