Look beyond the visible product pages when estimating a catalogue

The labour in a supplier site often sits in the records behind it. A product table may contain duplicate codes, inconsistent units and files whose editions are unknown. Importing that table quickly can preserve the problem in a more attractive interface.

Count the decisions needed to publish

Who approves the specification, evidence and image rights? Which products can be retired? Which documents are shared by several variants? These are content responsibilities even when the technical import is simple.

Language work needs the same attention. A translated heading may depend on a technical sheet, enquiry explanation and reply process. Agree actual coverage and qualified review rather than assuming a fixed uplift for every language.

Include the receiving workflow

An RFQ form needs a destination, meaningful acknowledgement and correction process. An integration needs supported operations, record mappings and a way to resolve uncertain results. Without those, apparent automation may create a more difficult manual queue.

Plan ownership after launch

Domains, hosting, provider charges, account recovery, operator training and document maintenance can carry recurring work or costs. Identify who receives notices and who can approve a change. Recovery also needs a procedure, not only a backup location.

Compare proposals by included responsibilities and acceptance evidence. Read scope and pricing, and mark unresolved product or provider questions in the project plan before treating an estimate as firm.
