Write a brief around the buyer, the requirement and the receiving colleague

A supplier website brief does not need to choose a framework. It needs to explain what someone knows, what they need and why the current exchange fails to connect the two.

Describe the starting record

Choose a fictional product enquiry. Include the item code or family, quantity with unit and document reference where relevant. Explain which information is unknown and why the receiving person cannot proceed without it.

Identify the current tools

List the catalogue, form, inbox, spreadsheet and order application involved. Name the business owner of each and any supported interface already confirmed. Do not include passwords, private customer exports or confidential drawings in the brief.

State the review responsibilities

Who approves product facts and commercial wording? Who can decide a technical question? Which languages are actually required and who reviews them? Qualified professional questions remain with the appropriate advisers.

Define a checkable first phase

An acceptance example might require a staff member to identify the requested unit and edition without another email. Add a meaningful exception, such as a revised drawing or uncertain receipt. Include the operator's next task, migration constraints and the timing event driving the work.

Mark unknowns rather than filling them with assumptions. The brief should make the next decision easier. Continue with project planning or bring the example to us.
